This attic had headroom only under the ridge and one small roof window. The owners wanted a bedroom and study area for their eldest daughter.
We designed a 4.2-metre timber dormer at the rear, within the national permit-free rules that we confirmed in writing. Zinc capping and window colours were selected to match the existing façade.
The dormer was prepared in the workshop and installed in one day. Insulation, walls, electrics, plastering and built-in storage followed, turning the attic into a 14 m² room with seven additional square metres of full headroom.
