Two self-employed residents had worked at the dining table for years. They wanted two proper offices and a second bathroom without sacrificing the garden or the character of their 1930s house.
We replaced the existing roof with a set-back storey, keeping it almost invisible from street level. This design addressed the design review requirements from the first sketch and the permit was approved in one round.
Steel beams strengthen the wall plates and part of the floor. Within six weeks the new floor was insulated and finished with two offices, a bathroom and a void that brings daylight to the landing, plus preparation for future solar panels.
